Issued in 1961 by the United Arab Republic (UAR), this striking purple stamp commemorates Palestine Day (يوم فلسطين). The top panel features the intense, sorrowful faces of a Palestinian mother and her child peering out from behind a heavy strand of barbed wire, beneath the symbolic national declaration "We shall return" (عائدون). The lower section contains a map silhouette of historic Palestine overlaid with the bilingual country name. This issue was specifically designed and printed with the integrated "PALESTINE / فلسطين" inscription for distribution within the Gaza Strip to focus regional and international attention on the political status and collective memory of the displaced population.
